Step 01 - Scheduled DOYRMS Maintenance Closure
We have some big news to share! SafelySwim at The Duke of York’s Royal Military School (DOYRMS) Swimming Pool will be temporarily closed from 24th March 2025 until approximately the end of June 2025 for essential maintenance work.
Why Are We Closing?
For the past 18 months, we have been working hard to secure a replacement swimming pool liner, as the existing one has been slowly deteriorating. Thanks to the support of our community and SafelySwim’s fundraising efforts, DOYRMS has now approved the work, ensuring the long-term future of the pool!
During this closure, the following improvements will be made:
- New pool liner to prevent leaks and maintain water quality
- Matching poolside flooring for a safe, more modern appearance
- Updated poolside benches for comfort and functionality
- Freshly decorated pool and changing rooms
- New competitive diving blocks
What Does This Mean for Your Lessons?
We know this may be disappointing, but we’re committed to ensuring our swimmers continue their progress. That’s why SafelySwim has invested in a new facility in Whitfield, allowing us to continue to run a range of lessons and supporting our community.
We will be providing:
- Private Lessons
- Adult Swimming Sessions
- Learn to Swim Classes
- Fitness Sessions
- Baby & Toddler Sessions
- Learn to Compete & Squad Sessions
We are also enhancing our services, by adding:
- School Water Safety Assemblies
- Primary First Aid Courses
- First Aid and Aquatic Courses
Current Position
We are continuing as normal throughout February and March 2025, with new swimmers joining and participating in our lessons. Everyone currently booked in will get priority with choices at our new venue and class choice when reopening in July 2025.
- Payments - Will be paused over our closure period for those not continuing during the DOYRMS closure.
- Team Members - Will be continuing throughout at our new venue, allowing a range of lessons to continue with the people you know and love.
- Competitive Swimmers - Will be participating in a training camp abroad along with pool time with neighbouring supportive swimming clubs.
- School Swimming - All our School Swimming Sessions will be paused until we return to DOYRMS in Term 6.
