Step 02 - Class Information & Trial Week Dates
As we prepare for the closure of the swimming pool at The Duke of York’s Royal Military School (DOYRMS) for essential maintenance, we want to ensure that swimmers and families have the opportunity to continue their swimming journey with us during this period. We have worked really hard to aquire two additional venues which will be suitable for majority of our swimmers. Keep reading for further details!
Final Swim at DOYRMS
Last day of lessons: Sunday, 23rd March 2025
Closure begins:Monday, 24th March 2025
One-Off Lessons – 24th March to 19th April
From Monday, 24th March 2025, we will be introducing one-off Group and Private Lesson bookings at our alternative venues in Whitfield to allow families to continue swimming until after the Easter break (7th April - 22nd April).
These sessions will be available to all swimmers currently enrolled in regular weekly lessons, allowing them to keep progressing during the transition period.
More can be found on this topic, as well as venue information in our new post - Step 03 - Booking Alternative Lessons During Our Trial Weeks.
Regular Weekly Lessons – From 23rd April Onwards
From Tuesday, 23rd April 2025 (after our Easter break), we will be restarting regular weekly Group Lessons at our alternative venues.
Private Lessons will also be available with selected instructors over our closure at alternative venues to support those swimmers that require 1:1 support.

Closure Timeline at DOYRMS
Prioritising Swimmers for DOYRMS Reopening
- Swimmers that continue and swim weekly with us at the alternative venues will be priority ONE when we return to DOYRMS.
- Swimmers that wish to pause during the closure but return once DOYRMS reopens will be priority TWO.
- Swimmers that wish to finish completely will be removed from our system and will not be offered any priority when we return.
Families with Multiple Swimmers
We recognise that some families will have children in different stages, which may result in swimmers being at different venues or requiring different lesson times and days. While we understand this presents a challenge, our primary goal is to continue offering high-quality swimming lessons that provide challenge, development, and progression despite the closure at our main location.
Our team is here to support you, and we will do our best to accommodate schedules where possible. However, we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate this transition together.
Group Lesson Pricing
We have tried our best to find alternative options to allow swimmers to continue and progress during the DOYRMS closure, including building our own small facility! Due to the increase in venue costs and a reduced student-teacher ratio of 1:3 at our newly built venue, we have had to amend our pricing accordingly for our beginner stages.
Group Lessons
- Baby & Toddlers: £15.00 per lesson
- Seahorses, Stage 1 & Stage 1+: £15.00 per lesson
- Stage 2 and above (including Stage 6/7 & Fitness): £10.50 per lesson
The increase applies specifically to our new facility, which has been purpose-built to enhance the learning experience. When we return to DOYRMS, we will be operating both locations simultaneously. This means that beginners who prefer to continue lessons at DOYRMS can do so at the existing venue price.
We have been able to maintain the current pricing for Stage 2 and above due to the second venue we will be using, where we can continue our regular class sizes from the DOYRMS.

Private Lessons
- Will only be available on a one-off basis throughout the closure priod via our booking site.
- Regular weekly private lessons will pause at DOYRMS and resume upon reopening in July 2025.
- Pricing remains the same.
- Instructor Updates: Over the coming weeks, instructors will be updating all private lesson swimmers. The stage assigned to each swimmer will determine which location they can continue at and whether a group lesson alternative is available.
Adults
We will be continuing our Adult Classes on a Wednesday and Friday evening.
Further details regarding their setup and booking options will follow via email to those currently booked in.
Returning to DOYRMS in July 2025
- All current swimmers will be prioritised when we return to DOYRMS.
- Subscriptions will be paused unless a new class has been chosen, starting from 23rd April onwards.
- Private Lesson slots will be reorganised.
- Assessment weeks will continue to allow students to move and progress as usual.
