Consistently Improving

Fixed monthly pricing from January 2027, better reminders, your lesson location on your booking confirmation, clearer renewal emails, a simpler policy for one off private lessons, new class times coming over the coming weeks, and Rookies from January 2027.

We look at your feedback continuously, and make fixes wherever families have pointed out something that could be better. Most of what follows started life as a parent telling us that something was harder than it needed to be, and we are grateful for every one of those messages.

Here is what has changed, and what is coming next.

Telling You Sooner, And More Than Once

Missing a message about your child’s lesson is frustrating for everyone, so we have added more ways for the same information to reach you.

  • Announcement reminders. Announcements now come with a follow up reminder closer to the date, so you are not relying on catching one email.
  • Closure emails and text messages. When a pool closes or a session moves, you now receive a text message as well as an email.
  • The website scroller. A thin bar now runs across the top of every page on our website with anything currently affecting lessons. It updates straight from our booking system, and when there is nothing to report it stays hidden.
  • Closure dates on your order confirmation. Your subscription order confirmation now lists the closure dates for the period you are paying for, so you can see which weeks are not running at the point you renew rather than finding out later.

Please do keep your mobile number and email address up to date in your account, as these are the two ways we reach you when something changes at short notice.

Your Lesson Location On Your Booking Confirmation

Your venue has always been on your booking confirmation. What has changed is how easy it is to find. We run lessons at more than one pool, so we have pulled the venue details out into their own block, made them far clearer to spot, and added a map and directions you can search from.

You will also find it on your past bookings on the booking site, so you can look it up at any time rather than only from the original email.

The Where To Go block now shows:

  • The venue your lessons are at, and the full address
  • Which swimmers use that pool
  • A map, and a Get Directions button that opens the route from wherever you are
  • A what3words reference to pinpoint the entrance

Here is an example, as a family swimming at our Endless Pool at Whitfield would see it.

Your lessons are at SafelySwim Endless

Seahorses and every new Stage 1 beginner swim here.
Please check this before you set off. We run lessons at more than one pool.

This is an example only. Your own confirmation shows the pool your lessons are actually at, so please check it before you set off. It matters most if your swimmer has recently moved up, as swimmers start at our Endless Pool at Whitfield and move to DOYRMS once they graduate, and it is easy to drive to the pool you are used to.

One reminder about DOYRMS, as it is what families are most often caught out by. It is a school campus and a parking permit is required, so please register your vehicle before your first lesson there.

All of our venues, including water temperature, pool size and how many spectators each one takes, are on our locations page.

A Simpler Policy For One Off Private Lessons

One off private lessons now work in one of two ways, depending on what suits your family.

One off via appDot: Buy a block of 4 lessons upfront and book slots on appDot as they become available. We email you every Monday with what is free that week. For swimmers already in our Learn to Swim group lessons, aged 3 to 15. Not available for adult or competitive lessons.

One off via the booking site: Single lessons released on our booking page, usually a day or two ahead. Book and pay in one go, with no subscription and no credit needed. Open to everyone, ages 3 to 15, and adult or competitive from 16.

Monthly subscription slots are confirmed first, at the start of each month. Cancelled and extra slots then go to swimmers holding lesson credits on appDot. Whatever is left is released on the booking site for anyone.

Knowing that order means you can see when a slot is likely to reach you, rather than checking the booking page and hoping.

Fixed Monthly Pricing From January 2027

This is the change we are most pleased to be making. From January 2027, your swimming will cost the same amount every month.

At the moment your subscription follows the number of lesson weeks in each month, so some months are higher than others. It is accurate, but it is difficult to budget around, and it is the thing families ask us about more than anything else.

From January the total cost of your swimmer’s year is simply divided into twelve equal payments.

  • The same figure leaves your account on the same day every month
  • No months that land higher than others
  • Our closure weeks are already built into the figure, so you are never paying for lessons that do not run

We run 46 lessons across the year. We close for two weeks at Easter, two weeks in August and two weeks in December, and those closures are accounted for before your monthly figure is worked out.

We will write to you well before January with your own monthly figure, so you can see exactly what is changing and when. Nothing changes on your account until then.

Rookies From January 2027

From January 2027 we are adding RLSS Rookie Lifeguard sessions at Maritime Skills Academy for swimmers in Stage 4 and above. Rookies is for swimmers who have the strokes and now want to learn what to do when somebody else is in trouble.

  • Reach and throw rescues
  • Casualty recovery
  • Survival skills
  • Water safety knowledge

It is an alternative route for swimmers who want to carry on but have started to want something other than the next set of lengths, and for many it is a first proper look at the industry itself. It sits alongside Stages 6 and 7 and Learn to Compete as a way to keep going once a swimmer reaches our minimum standard.

We will confirm days, times and how to book nearer the launch.

Coming Soon

  • A refreshed marketing website. Our booking site has already had its new look, and our main website is being brought into line with it. Clearer routes into the right lesson type and faster pages.
  • New styling for automated emails. Your reminders and confirmations from appDot are getting the same clear layout as everything else.
  • An appDot rebuild. Not a patch on the current app, a rebuild, and where the larger requests are being taken.
  • One login for appDot and the booking site. These are two separate accounts today. They are being brought together so one set of details gets you into both.

We will announce each of these as they arrive, through the emails, text messages and website bar described at the top of this post.

If something about lessons, billing or appDot is harder than it should be, please tell us. Speak to your teacher on poolside, or get in touch and we will look at it.
