18 month report

SafelySwim has now been at The Duke of Yorks Royal Military School for the last 18 months, I started by myself in January 2018 and now are working with 8 team members making up SafelySwim. We have always aimed to be different to existing industry leaders, offering a fresh, fun, alternative choice for those looking for swimming lessons.

Stage Criteria

Since our 12 month report, which you can read using the link below, we have started to use our own custom built Stage Criteria. Our Path to Success is built on our standards of swimming, what we expect our students to be able to achieve. Having our own pathway gives us a structure to accurately build our classes around, rather than following something that hasn’t taken our pool, atmosphere and quality of teaching into consideration.

Distance Awards

We have also created our own distance awards and badges for those that achieve excellence. These badges and certificates have been very popular and we hope to deliver a new range of awards, stage certificates and medals to those in our group lessons. These medals have been going though a lot of tests and changes, in order to deliver to the high standards expected from SafelySwim. We hope to reveal our stage awards soon.

New Team Members

In the past year we have also expanded our team. Sophie Weymouth was new to our teaching team in January. With years of experience in the industry, and having children of her own, she is fantastic working with pupils of all ages. We have also welcomed our new Lead Receptionist, Esther Grey. Esther also started with us in January and has been an exceptional at running the reception desk, we look forward to them both continuing with us.

STT Training Camp

Outside of our main Learn to Swim lessons, we completed our second training camp for competitive swimmers that want to improve their fitness, technique and race preparation. Our Easter Training Camp was a great success, it followed a similar pattern to our first camp over Christmas, but incorporated new ideas and techniques. A busy three day session which included 12 hours of pool training and 6 hours of land training, I am proud to say that some of our swimmers who attended did some great swimming at Regionals recently.

New School Swimming Sessions

Finally, we have been very proud of our school swimming sessions during these past few months. These started in February with several schools in the local area booking their pupils in for schools lessons. We are pleased to continue these sessions next year, having received incredibly positive feedback from the schools and our participants. We aim to help support the local community and offer a better standard of school swimming to help a larger number of kids be confident and safe in water.

Thank You

I personally want to thank everyone that is a part of SafelySwim, the team and I are thankful for all the support we have received over the past 18 months. It is wonderful to see how many positive reviews we have received since starting. We will continue to support the community the best we can and keep delivering outstanding lessons to those that want to learn to swim.
