Supporting Swimmers Moving from SafelySwim Endless to DOYRMS
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Learn to Swim experience, we’re making an update to support beginner swimmers (Seahorses & Stage 1’s) who are transitioning from SafelySwim Endless to DOYRMS.
This change aims to make the move as smooth and supportive as possible, ensuring every swimmer continues their progress with confidence.
A Seamless Transition Between Venues
To help swimmers adjust comfortably, those moving from Endless will be able to select a Stage 1 class at DOYRMS. This will allow for an easy transition between venues while maintaining consistency in their learning experience.
Once settled, if a swimmer is deemed ready by their instructor, they will progress naturally into Stage 1+, following the usual class progression process.
The usual move up procedure will continue as usual. For more information, please see our Assessment Week blog post.
Why Endless Is Perfect for Beginners
SafelySwim Endless provides the ideal environment for new swimmers starting their journey. It’s a calm, supportive space designed specifically for beginners working towards their first 5 metres on both their front and back.
Here, swimmers can focus on building confidence, water safety, and the fundamental swimming skills needed before progressing to larger pool settings. The nurturing atmosphere at Endless helps each swimmer develop strong foundations and enjoy learning at their own pace.
We are currently only accepting Stage 1 bookings for new swimmers at SafelySwim Endless. To move on to lessons at DOYRMS, swimmers will need to graduate from SafelySwim Endless or successfully complete a Water Test at DOYRMS.
Why We’re Making This Change
We recognise that each swimmer develops at their own pace and that the learning environment can make a big difference. This update will:
- Support confident swimmers as many swimmers moving from Endless are already demonstrating Stage 1+ ability, and this process helps align them with the correct class level.
- Ease nerves for swimmers from quieter environments as Endless provides a calm learning space, and this change ensures that swimmers who may feel nervous entering a larger venue are well supported.
- Extra assistance in the pool during our Stage 1 classes at DOYRMS will offer additional support for swimmers who may need help getting into the water or settling in.
Our aim is to ensure continuity across both venues, supporting swimmers as they grow in confidence and skill while maintaining class balance and ability levels.
Consistent Criteria Across Venues
Our Stage 1 criteria remain the same at all of our venues.
To progress to Stage 1+, swimmers must be able to:
- Swim 5 metres on their front and back with good technique
- Show they can take a breath without touching the floor
This ensures every swimmer moving forward is ready for the next stage in their journey.
