Phased Reopening - The Duke of York's Royal Military School
We’re excited to share that from Monday 21st July, swimmers in Stage 2 and above that were attending sessions at Maritime Skills Academy (MSA) will be returning to the The Duke of York’s Royal Military School — and you’ll be keeping your existing class times for the summer holidays! 🎉
For more specific details, including those currently at SafelySwim Endless - please read the information below.
Summer Refresher Weeks (21st July to 17th August)
If you’re not currently booked in, paused your lessons, or already in weekly lessons you’ll be able to join us for additional individual lessons across the summer! These will be available to book on a session-by-session basis all the way up until 17th August. Perfect to brush up skills, get swimming over the holidays and a trial before returning.
Private Lessons will be available at SafelySwim Endless until the 1st September.
Bookings for our Summer Refresher will be released on a weekly basis.
1st of September Onwards
All swimmers who were booked at SafelySwim Endless or MSA during the DOYRMS closure, will receive priority access to select new regular class times for September onwards, using our familiar online booking system.
Lessons will be available for Learn to Swim on the following…
- DOYRMS - Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sun
- SafelySwim Endless - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sun
If you didn’t join us during our temporary closure but still have an active subscription from previously being at DOYRMS, you’ll also be given the chance to return to DOYRMS in September and get back into the swing of regular weekly lessons.
New and rejoining swimmers will continue through the same setup process once everyone with an active subscription has been migrated to their new chosen classes.
Seahorses & Stage 1 Swimmers
For those currently swimming at SafelySwim Endless in Stage 1 you’ll have the option to either continue to benefit from SafelySwim Endless or move across to DOYRMS, where space allows.
- September onwards:
- Seahorses will continue only at SafelySwim Endless.
- Stage 1 classes will be avaliable at both SafelySwim Endless and DOYRMS.
We aim to support families with multiple children by offering lessons at the same time for siblings with different abilities. If you’re able to continue in Stage 1 at SafelySwim Endless, we would greatly appreciate your support in remaining at this venue from September onwards as Stage 1 space at DOYRMS is limited.
Stage 1+ Swimmers
Stage 1+ swimmers will need to select a new class at DOYRMS for September onwards. These will no longer continue at SafelySwim Endless from the 1st of September.
- September onwards:
- Stage 1+ classes will only be at DOYRMS, with an increased availability to meet growing demand.
Private Lessons
Those booked in regurlar Private Lesson’s via subscription will be contacted if their lesson time needs to change. Options will be made avaliable.
- September onwards:
- Private Lessons at SafelySwim Endless and DOYRMS will be avaliable for every swimmer, no matter their age and ability.
- Private Lessons at MSA will continue to be for those Stage 2 and above.
Why We’re Waiting Until September to Move Classes
With our planned two-week break for Learn to Swim (18th August to 1st September), we felt it wouldn’t be practical to move everyone into new classes for 4 weeks just for things to change again in September.
Restructuring now would create unnecessary complications — including issues with billing, class movements for families, potential pool issues and last-minute changes for teachers — all of which can be avoided.
By continuing with the current class structure until August, and allowing those who have paused over the closure to join ad hoc where space allows, we can keep things consistent. This also gives us a clear two-week window to prepare and finalise everyone’s new class placements for the new term in September.
Competitive Swimmers
Those in Learn to Complete and Squads will continue to recieve updates from Lead Coach via email.
Beginner Private Lessons are Back
Regular 1:1 slots with a range of tutors will be available again from the 21st July. Perfect for those looking for a boost in progress, get started or alternatively wish to join us for additional lessons over the summer. You’ll now have a wider choice of times, days and locations to choose from!
To book a private lesson at any of our venues, book online here.

A Huge Thank You
As we reach the light at the end of the tunnel, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who stood by us during these incredibly uncertain times. What began as a period filled with challenge and change became a chance to grow — when closure once felt inevitable.
“We’re proud to have made it through without any redundancies, while retaining over 70% of our Learn to Swim families, and introducing new lesson types and opportunities for both our team, swimmers and local community.”
None of this would have been possible without your continued support, loyalty, and belief in what we do.
From all of us at SafelySwim – thank you! 💙
