Baby & Toddler - Winter 2022

Our Baby & Toddler classes are extremely popular and usually fully booked, if you are one of the lucky ones who have attended, we hope you have enjoyed them. Over the past few months, attendees may have noticed that the water hasn’t always been as warm as we usually expect.

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School Pool is aging and the maintenance team at the school work very hard to try and keep things running to a good standard. As we approach the colder winter months the boilers must work harder to keep things at an acceptable temperature. We have seen over the past couple of weeks that consistency is not always possible which leads to cancelling our Baby and Toddler sessions.

Our priority is to keep the young attendees and their families safe, sadly if the water is too cold we try our best to inform customers as soon as we can to prevent further disappointment. Young children are not able to regulate their body temperature as well as older children and as some are very young, some are not as active as older individuals. We all know, a cold baby is then an unhappy one!

Last minute cancellations are very much a last resort for us. They are something which we try to avoid at all costs but unfortunately when safety is an issue this can’t be avoided. We understand the upset and confusion to routine that this can cause for you and your little one and want to avoid this.

Winter Adjustment - 18months and under

We have had to make a difficult decision for the winter term, as we have decided that there will be no sessions for those under 18months. We will also only be running our Baby and Toddler sessions on a Saturday morning as we find Saturdays seem to be the warmer due to the weekday maintenance required.

As we can’t guarantee that the temperature will be warm enough for those under 18 months, we will not be advertising sessions as for these ages. If your little one is ok in the colder water, and you have applicable wet suits, then you are more than welcome to book in and join us. However, we will not be cancelling any sessions when the water is slightly colder this winter.

Future of Baby & Toddlers

We are hoping that some upcoming maintenance on the pool will improve things and we will then be able to run these sessions again in the new year. If you have booked with us before then we will add your details to the waiting list so that we can get you booked when suitable sessions become available.
