What to Expect when we Return

We can’t wait for indoor swimming pools to open again, however, there are going to be many changes to ensure the safety of our team and customers. We are currently working with The Duke of York’s Royal Military School to support SafelySwim and focus on a gradual return to swimming lessons.

Many of our measures we are looking to put in place will help maintain distance and keep those arriving at the centre feeling comfortable and safe. We have been waiting for news from STA and Swim England who have now released their documents on how swim schools, pool operators and customers are to behave when taking part in an indoors swimming activity.

We will be introducing a one way system through reception onto poolside and around the pool in a clockwise motion, with the exit being through the changing rooms. We will be limiting the number of individuals in the pool and around poolside, as well as making the class sizes smaller. Cleaning equipment will be submerged in chlorinated water before and after use, making it safe for lessons.

These measures will help reduce the risk of transmitting the virus and will be essential for SafelySwim to operate safely. We will be working with The Duke of York’s Military School to help maintain the cleanliness and overall wellbeing of those on campus.

There are a few more measures we will be introducing;

  • Swimmers should arrive ready changed with their costumes already on.
  • The changing rooms will be out of use. Swimmers will need to return home to shower and change.
  • Teachers will adhere to the recommended social distancing guidelines during classes and private lessons.
  • Competitive swimmers will swim clockwise around the lanes in order to maintain distance.
  • Swimmers should only have one parent or guardian with them on poolside.
  • Customers and staff should wash their hands with soap or use antibacterial gel before entering and leaving the facility.

We are hoping that our first lessons returning will be;

  • Private Lessons
  • Competitive swimmers (Including Speed Through Technique and Learn to Compete)

Our next sessions to return will be;

  • Group Lessons (Stages 1+ to Stage 6)
  • Adult Sessions
  • Baby and Toddler Classes

Our final sessions to return will be;

  • Group Lessons (Seahorses and Stage 1)

We are working hard to make these arrangements and ensure SafelySwim continues to be a safe environment. We hope to get things moving as soon as it is safe to do so. We are currently waiting for the government to inform the pool operators when they are able to re-open swimming facilities and the measures that they need to take to ensure the safety of those using them.

All of those who were in private lessons with us as of the 13/03/2020 will have a priority booking space and will be contacted when a suitable session begins again. Those wanting to start private lessons will be added to a waiting list and will be contacted with available sessions at a later date.

We look forward to hopefully returning soon!
